A little insulation.
Then I sheeted the other side. There is a 2' x 2' hatch which I framed in, insulated, and cut out later. I feel alot better now, just knowing that someone might not fall into the cistern now.
Today I installed the main door. It went alot better than I thought it would. That one swings outward. That is the kitchen you're looking at.
The main door from the outside. As you can see, I also have a bathroom window in. The other basement window is installed now also, but I forgot to take a picture that day. I am not going to worry about the the upper loft window/doors for awhile yet. There are other more important things to worry about. I will probably frame it, what ever it will be, and then insulate it, but I probably won't install anything up there until next spring or summer,- but, who knows.

The installs look great Hermit. Glad you got some time to work on yer cabin. Any progress is good progress. Its looking real good. ~Jen
ReplyDeleteGreat looking progress Mark!
ReplyDeleteYou know....looking at your kitchen picture... it really does look roomy in there. You're going to rattle around in your house after living this long in the trailer. :)
Looking awesome...
Thank you Jen. It feels real good everytime even just a little bit gets done. It's gotta come to end sometime, hopefully in this lifetime.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeanie. It is actually roomier than it looks like from the outside. It's a mansion Jeanie. Compared to the shack anyway. I just hope I don't ever get lost in there.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to see the progress you are making. I know how good it feels to hit those various milestones. Just this week we got some windows installed in our earthbag dome. Will you be living in your new place this winter?
ReplyDeleteIt's come a long way, buddy! Looks almost cozy enough to move into!
ReplyDeleteLookin' good! Still lots to do, I know, but are you seeing a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel?
ReplyDeleteThanks there Muddome.
ReplyDeleteEvery little bit feels good. I'm not sure if I will be in my new cabin this winter or not. I know that if I did'nt have a job, I should very easily be in it this winter, but I never know how busy I am going to be from one year to the next, or even from day to day. I always seem to take the work when it is there, and our work schedule is very far from normal. It would be nice to be in it, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. I had a glance at your blog, looks interesting.
Almost cozy enough to move in Jim, except for the fact that it's starting to get pretty chilly up here, and there is no heat source in there yet. It'll come soon though, I'm sure. Thanks Jim.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lynneanne.(I think I got the name right, but please do correct me if I'm wrong). There is lots to do, but if I could have a month dedicated, things would sure look alot different in short order. I am seeing a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. I'm just enjoying the whole journey as I go.
ReplyDeleteCool journey you're on… I'm living vicariously through you. lol
ReplyDeleteyeah, you got the name right… for the most part. :) just too many 'e's in there, but I'm not complaining. lol So what's the first room you hope to work on first (maybe you've said and I've missed it)?
