We got the roof on. I finished putting on the the final piece of tin Tuesday May 11, then at about noon that day I went to work at the pay job and I have been doing that since. Looks like I got the roof on just in time. Now I don't really care what happens work wise. If it's busy I'll work, but if it's slow I will build. It usually comes and goes in little splurts, but you just don't know from one year to the next, or even one day to the next what to expect.
I do still have some minor touching up on the tin before I can say it is totally complete, but what a relief it is to have a roof on. It took mom and I alot longer to get this tin on than I expected, but thats ok. I hav'nt been on here checking out any of my favorite blogs for a few days, but I do hope to get all caught up soon. Bye for now.

Looks great Mark! You'll be living in your house in no time. :)
ReplyDeleteA roof over your head... even more important than the walls, I think. Great job. What an accomplishment for you and your Mom. It's the roofing that scares me the most - not because of the working conditions and height, but because I don't know how to do it. I've never done roofing before. Your place is coming along nicely. Can't wait to see the next update.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! The roof is a major accomplishment and it looks great!!
ReplyDeleteDoing a happy dance for ya!!
ReplyDeleteA roof over your head....Priceless. Gret job Mark. You can be proud.
ReplyDeleteSee Ya.
Thanks Jeanie. I hope I'll be living in it in no time, but I also hear some talk of a pretty busy summer at work, so I guess we'll see what happens. What ever happens, happens though.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Ginger, a roof is by far more important than walls. That makes two of that don't know anything about roofing. lol. Thanks Ginger.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen. I DO feel like I have made a major accomplishement. Let'er rain now.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the happy dance SciFiChick. I've done one also.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tony. I'm prouder than a peacock.
ReplyDeleteRoof looks great! What's on the agenda next (after you do the little minor things left on the roof)?
ReplyDeleteThanks Sprouting Acorn. I am kinda concentrating on backfilling my basement, but I do have a few little things that also need done before I can do that. I just openend up the floor as an entrance and started to build some steps to the basement so that I can put that last sheet of plywood on the basement and close it in. I'm thinking that I might have to install my septic tank kinda at the same time also. Unless I just don't backfill that area for now.
ReplyDeleteAnother milestone reached! How great is that? Way to go, my friend!
ReplyDeleteyeah… don't want to forget the septic… that would stink (pun intended). actually, i know of a place that built a new building… and somehow they overlooked putting a septic in… i know. i'm not sure how someone overlooks that, but these fine folk did. they haven't been able to use the building for the intended public events as planned. kinda funny, actually.
ReplyDeleteThat is super great Jim. Feels good, but I still have a long way to go. Thanks Jim.
ReplyDeleteHey there Sprouting Acorn, I'm sure that I have overlooked some things as I go, but I'm going to need the ole septic system in for sure. lol
ReplyDeleteLooks great Mark! you did an excellent job!
ReplyDeleteThanks Annie. There might be a couple little defects, but we'll just keep it our little secret.
ReplyDeleteRoof looks great, good work!
ReplyDeleteGood looking roof. Now that you are an expert tinman i have a train station roof here on the Eastern Shore you might enjoy playing with.
ReplyDeleteThanks Shiner.
ReplyDeleteNice try Grenville. One thing that I have learned about putting on a tin roof, is that I really don't like doing it all that much. lol. You might have to look into plan B for that train station.
